I am Sima Zad, a painter and art instructor with a focus on painting, printmaking (monoprint and monotype), and more recently, ceramic works inspired by nature.
My artistic practice centers on painting and printmaking, and I have participated in both solo and group exhibitions in Iran and internationally. Recently, I have extended my ideas into three-dimensional and ceramic forms.
My passion for painting began in childhood. Nature and plants have always been a source of peace, beauty, and inner discovery for me. Teaching children and observing their fresh and imaginative worlds has also been a source of inspiration.
The central themes of my work are life, the passage of time, growth, and the return to the self. In my art, I explore questions of presence and absence, birth and decay, and the coexistence of light and darkness. My inspiration comes from both nature and personal experience. For me, plants are not only aesthetically meaningful but also symbols of life, transformation, and the passage of time. They invite me to reflect on existence, temporality, and human experience.

Through painting and printmaking, I seek to portray a philosophical and inward journey of being, passing, and returning to the self. I primarily work with oil on canvas and paper. In my prints, I employ techniques such as layering and direct impressions of plants and natural forms. These materials allow me to convey the tactile sensation of nature while revealing the temporal and metaphorical layers of meaning in my works.
The layers, textures, and delicate details in my prints and oil paintings create a sense of uncertainty, temporality, and the simultaneity of presence and absence. I want the viewer to experience a moment of reflection, presence in the now, serenity, and a connection with nature—an invitation to discover their own inner layers.
The ultimate message of my work is a meditation on life, the passage of time, and the importance of the present moment: an invitation to witness the beauty and complexities of existence, even in the midst of darkness and decay.
Looking ahead, I wish to further explore the transformative processes of nature and their resonance with human experience, expanding my practice into new sculptural and print-based forms. My aim is to create spaces of silence and presence where the audience can enter an inner dialogue through my work
